Water/Energy Sustainability Summit

The Water Research Foundation is offering a one-day workshop for water, wastewater and power utilities to provide a venue to review the water/energy nexus and explore opportunities for developing collaborative approaches in meeting future energy and water needs. The workshop will provide an overview of policies, research and regulations that currently affect utilities with regards to climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy and water supplies. Case studies on how some utilities are addressing water-energy sustainability issue will be presented. A facilitated participant discussion will take place in the afternoon to identify common goals for addressing energy/water sustainability issues for the region with the goal of identifying research needs, possible partnerships, and/or new opportunities for regional collaboration.

This Webcast is a one-hour presentation on Foundation project #4088, Chloride to Sulfate Mass Ratio (CSMR): Changes from Water Treatment and its Impact on Lead Leaching in Potable Water, published in June 2010. It presents the impacts of CSMR on lead leaching from plumbing materials, as well as the roles of alkalinity, pH, and corrosion inhibitors in potentially mitigating corrosion in high CSMR waters.
