RFPs Released
Requests for proposals (RFPs) are now available for solicited projects on the 2010 research agenda. Guidelines for submitting a solicited proposal are also available. The deadline for proposals is either mid-May or mid-July, as stated on each RFP.

PAC Volunteers Sought for New Program Projects
Four new Foundation projects (4331, 4332, 4333, 4334) will be getting underway as part of a new research program Innovation and Research for Water Infrastructure in the 21st Century (Aging Water Infrastructure). This research program is a partnership with the USEPA and the Water Environment Research Foundation. These four projects will address condition assessment (two projects), advanced design and engineering concepts, and treatment technologies for drinking water treatment. The Foundation is looking for Project Advisory Committee (PAC) volunteers for each of these projects.
Complete the volunteer form before 3/30 for consideration as a PAC volunteer.

Webcast Archived: Localized Treatment for Disinfection By-Products
The archived Webcast from 2/11/2010 is available for replay to Foundation subscribers.This Webcast highlights the results of the completed Foundation project 3103, Order Number 91254, "Localized Treatment for Disinfection By-Products". The purpose of this project was to investigate cost-effective approaches for reducing or removing disinfection by-products from a drinking water distribution system by focusing on reducing water age and on treating only the flow necessary in the distribution system to comply with the Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection By-products Rule.

Webcast Archived: Workforce Sustainability - Strategies for Partnership in Workforce Planning and Development
The archived Webcast from 2/4/2010 is available for replay to Foundation subscribers. This webcast presents findings from Foundation project 4206, "Water Sector Workforce Sustainability Initiative" which validated mission critical industry positions and explored methods for collaboration locally, regionally, and nationally between private and public agencies to help organizations proactively address the workforce crisis and focus on workforce sustainability now and into the future.

Lead and Copper Summary Paper 2010 Update Now Available
The summary paper, Distribution System Corrosion and the Lead and Copper Rule: An Overview of Water Research Foundation Research by Foundation project manager, Traci Case, has been updated and is now available for download. This summary of relevant completed and ongoing Water Research Foundation research projects is meant to help with a basic understanding of the issues surrounding distribution system corrosion and the lead and copper rule. The 2010 update includes summaries of the three most recently published related project reports, and includes a description of the RFP to be released in March 2010.

Webcast Archived: Criteria for Optimized Distributions – Recommended Metrics and Approach
The archived Webcast from 1/21/2010 is available for replay to Foundation subscribers.This Webcast is based on the results of the Water Research Foundation project,  "Criteria for Optimized Distribution Systems" (Project #4109), which presents a practical set of easily measured parameters that, when actively and effectively managed, drive excellence in overall distribution system water quality, operations, and infrastructure management.
